To remain at the forefront of technological innovation, Del West Engineering, Inc., has long been committed to exhaustive research and development programs in three critical areas: product design and development; new materials and coatings; and manufacturing control processes. 

At Del West there is a continual succession of such programs, and our engineering strength has grown accordingly over the years.  In recent years we have expanded our study of the engine as a system to further improve and expand our product line and ability to offer the customers complete solutions. 

Del West undertakes R&D projects and the investment they require for two reasons.  First, it is our nature, as engineers, and especially, as engineers involved in racing.  Second, we know that better materials, improved component design, continual component testing, and greater precision in manufacturing provide engine designers with greater flexibility, which is the key to the future successes for all of us.  Ongoing R&D projects include:

• Development of inter-metallic compound materials for racing applications
• Development of thin ceramic coatings for high wear applications
• Continued research into thin film, friction reducing coatings applied via physical
• vapor deposition (PVD) and/or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods
